Summer is a wonderful time to return to our goals with a fresh outlook and breathe a zest of inspiration into our projects. As the energetic rays of the sun stay with us longer it helps to fire up our brains and stay on track with the continued commitment to achieving our heart’s desire. We can tap into this by connecting to the core elements of Mother Earth.
Take a moment to connect up with your goals by taking your shoes off in the backyard and reconnecting to the earth. It feels wonderful to dig your toes into the ground, close your eyes, finding space in mountain pose, and reconnecting with your needs and desires. Take a few moments just to picture the freedom of achieving your goals as your toes welcome the budding rise of fresh greenery. Awakening to the rejuvenation of fresh ideas!
If you feel there is a staleness in your projects or workout routines the first step is to remove the staleness from your home. The easiest way to do this is to open your windows and let the summer air blow through cleansing your space and removing the stagnancy in the air that may be holding you back or feeling more sluggish than usual. It is when we can purge the stagnant in our homes it gives us the freedom and energy to open our spaces for more creativity.
We all have a fire that burns brightly within us that rises to the challenge of attaining our core desires. We can tap further into our passions by taking a moment to gaze into the evening fire or candlelight regaining clarity and focus before returning back to work on our soulful projects. The long fire gaze will calm your mind and fire you up to complete that one creative project that speaks to you.
Take a pause in your busy day. Reflect. Are you swimming against the current? How can you change the direction and find more fluidity throughout your day? It must be noted all challenges and resistances are normal but how can work with those challenges to regain a momentum that brings us the space to move and breathe with ease floating with tide instead of against it.
As we begin to connect more with the four elements we begin to create the much-needed space to venture on our creative path. The freedom of summer offers a fresh start to new and old projects. The beauty of the summer months is it renews and invigorates us to explore with all of our senses creating a wider expansion of endless possibilities.
I have a good friend that always rolls her eyes at me when she asks me “How are you?”
I always respond, “Good. Just going with the flow.”
However, there are many times when the flow is more like swimming against a very strong current. It is in those times I attempt to recognize that I need to take a step back and evaluate what is and not working in my life.
I truly believe that sometimes we need to let go of things to create space for new fresh and positive experiences. It is when we begin to make that space that more good is welcomed into our lives.
The best way to gauge if you are beginning to swim against the current or moving forward down the stream with all of your ducks in a row. Is by closing your eyes taking a few breaths, finding a place of neutral, in your mind, then think of one word that would best describe your situation is it love? Money? Success? Abundance?
Now from your place of neutral imagine simply floating which direction are you beginning to move do you need a flotation device to keep you a float or are you floating with ease down the lazy river.
It is a reflective way to check in with yourself to see how you can streamline your goals, desires, and dreams to move in one positive direction working together. If we can begin to recognize our alignment from that neutral position then we can act quicker in streamlining it when we begin to fight the current.
The more negativity we hold onto the harder it is to stay a float moving in one direction. If we can find a way to release that mind-set by learning to maintain a neutrality towards our goals we are more apt to achieve them with a combination of effort and joy.
A little love goes a long way and the best gift you give to yourself is to take simple steps to nourish your mind, body, and spirit. The more you begin to make time to replenish your spirit the more you begin to build the confidence and self-esteem to tap into your fullest potential.
I understand it’s hard to make time for yourself each day when you wear so many hats from the parental duties, the work that comes home with you, on top of that you are probably the chef, and cleaner. It is at the end of the night that you can be exhausted from the grocery duties, people pleasing, and in the end not enough time for you.
What if you created a list of ten simple things that you could do in a week to nourish your soul and rejuvenate your spirit? It doesn’t have to be something as luxurious as a day at the spa but just simple and affordable ways that will make your week better.

It is when you begin to nourish the core that is you that you feel more inspired to conquer your day, make better choices towards your health, and have that necessary stress release throughout your busy week. It’s the little things that can brighten the day and you deserve to enjoy those small special moments just for you.

One of the greatest factors in reaching our goals is visualizing and taking the necessary steps to achieve them. It maybe getting on the road to good health, planning for your first marathon, or just learning the basics to healthy cooking. All of these are attainable goals and with consistent effort you will be on the right track to reaching them.
Your well-being is one of the most important when it comes to your overall health, your goals, and raising the bar for what you want to do next in your life. One of the best ways to stay on track and evaluate the direction that you are heading in reaching towards your goals is checking in with yourself.
Take a few minutes every Sunday to journal about your week. It is a nice way to stay focused on all the good in your life and what you can strive to do better. Here is a list of simple questions to help you evaluate your week and write about in your own journal.
Opening a journal and writing can be one of the greatest ways to get to know yourself better, maintain focus on your goals, and help you to make the small changes necessary to improve your life. Your time is the most important contributing factor when it comes to your career, family, wealth, and health. It is how you set your schedule for the day in which will determine how you obtain all of your goals and tackle your to-do list. But time is also built around fostering relationships and following your passion. If we have no time or squander it then we sometimes feel as if we our failing ourselves and our relationships.
The problem is in the golden age of technology and social media we can easily lose track of time. We get caught in the cyclical vortex of work emails, texts, Facebook, and Netflix. It is before long that evening run that you wanted to accomplish for the day has been thrown out the window.
In our culture the act of being busy is expected of us but what if we slowed down from the dirty dishes, the emails, and the texts in the evening. We began to make more time for the people in our lives, our health goals, or just to create an hour to follow our own passions. How would that look and feel for you? Can you envision it?
Just take a minute to evaluate your time throughout the day. Is your schedule working for you? What small change can you do to make it better?
I know from experience that bad habits do not break overnight. They take time to change and shift into something better. So what if we made one small change to our schedule for a month. How would it improve your quality of life? Your health? Your creativity? The Quality of Relationships?
As I run out of time on writing this post I challenge myself and others to take a minute to reflect on our priorities. Let’s figure out how to change our schedules from the importance of being busy or the time suck of technology to reboot our calendars and make one small change for something in our lives that truly matters.
As another year begins to sail by us like a passing wind in the night it is not unusual to take stock of the smooth and bumpy waves that have steered us on our life’s journey. It is about accepting and appreciating the lessons from the past year in order move forward with ease into 2017.
If we can make peace with the past, we can align ourselves with the present, it is then that our future only arises to shine brighter. We can do this by cherishing and honoring first ourselves. It is by finding the ability and expression to begin to love oneself that we begin to shed old skin, we open our world to new experiences, and make way for new adventures.
It is important to shed the past to begin anew but with that comes the importance of having some form of ego to help build our self-esteem. We do this on a fine balance and sometimes people will not always approve of the changes within you. However, you learn to move forward with the grace of creating a healthy life that is meant for you to live well with the joy of attracting new people in your life that support your decisions.
The more we are able to cherish what is within us we can then begin to only appreciate more the people that surround and inspire us. It gives us the freedom to dream, admire the beauty in this world, and aim to live to our fullest potential.
As we navigate the waters ahead in the coming year may we find the grace to tap into our own core being. We build this through working on our self-esteem by learning to love our flaws and be kinder to ourselves when life’s waters begin to get rocky. It is about appreciating those lessons that throw us into the thick of it and aim not to repeat it again in the future.
May we all find the release needed from the stagnant waters of the past – learn to forgive ourselves and others. It is through this release we can take that deep breath in and exhale knowing that as we tap into our presence we can cherish our own strength in the pure fresh waters that await us in the new year.
As we enter the final week leading up to the holiday season we focus on everything from the gifts, the turkey, and keeping grandma away from spiking the punch bowl. We are thrown together with our families more than usual and if you live in a winter city prone to snowy cold weather it is enough to drive most people stir crazy.
The good food, too much booze, the same conversations, family feuds, and children running a muck throughout the house can be enough for the truest of patient saints to lose their halo. Many of us dream of a bartender serving endless martinis day and night just to survive the holiday season.
As much as we love our families they are also the same people who can drive us crazy. A simple way to break from this rut is to change it up. Get outside and play!

Put on your hats. Put on your mitts. Put on your snow suits. Put on your Winter boots.
It doesn’t have to be a fashion show. You do not have to look like a Sears catalog model or the cutest snow bunny. All you have to do is bundle up and have fun. It is one of the most inexpensive ways for you to enjoy your family this holiday season and reap the benefits of going outside.
Simple and effective ways to inhale the fresh winter air as you raise your heart level with the added bonus of a huge smile to your face. Take a few hours to break from the electronics, the phones, and the he said she said of the holiday season. Just taking the time to get outside is a great way to reconnect with our loved ones without the holiday drama and put the spirit back into the holiday’s.
