One day I woke up and said “Fuck it.”
I stopped writing, blogging, and doing the things that matter to me.
Life gets in the way – heartbreak, moves, upheaval, and divorce.
And then a year or so later I woke up I said “Why did I stop doing all the other things I love?”
So fuck it.
I am back.
The one thing out of the messiness of the past year was I never stopped my daily yoga practice, teaching, spending time with family, cooking healthy meals, journaling, and travelling. All in an attempt to get my yogi groove back into the updog of things.
In life there is always setbacks but there also big gains from those setbacks. As like all good clichés and Instagram quotes we learn from our setbacks to rise from the duldrums of whatever was holding us down (hopefully you weren’t stuck in a complicated yoga pose).
When we rise from the proverbial Instagram ashes we appreciate the little things in life like beautiful smiles, sounds of laughter, warm embraces, tenderness of heart, a big old cup of trucker coffee, and all the other wonderful delights that are waiting to warm us with joy.
If we can’t spot one small good thing in our day then we may as fall into the dark bleak abyss and call the bartender for a large bottle of whiskey with a side of pickled eggs.
The greatest gift we can give ourselves is to appreciate and live in wonder of all that lies before us. Sometimes it is ugly and other times it is magical (better than a bowl of lucky charms).
If you haven’t figured it out I am back and looking forward to sharing my musings, healthy recipes, and all things yoga with you! Just don’t expect perfection – I am human living the good life and with that it will always be a glorious beautiful mess!
